The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for gathering database and ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) requirements, functional & technical designs, development and testing. They will manage project teams as well as perform development activities.  This person will coordinate with various Technical & Business areas, Data Governance, Portfolio Management, and other stakeholders on project initiatives that relate to database/BI development. They will work with the onsite and offshore teams.  This individual will be engaged in staff augmentation, development budget, work progress tracking, and status monitoring for related projects.



Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in MS SQL Database development involving all phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC) with minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in managing teams.
  • Deep knowledge in Requirements gathering process.
  • Deep technology understanding in MS SQL Database design and ETL development in a complex environment, and the MS SQL BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
  • Thorough understanding of Database/Data Warehouse methodology and architectures.  Background in data modeling and database implementations. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively as a liaison between multiple teams.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in working with information consumers and business requirement teams to define technical requirements, design and drive the DB/BI development.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience preferred in the following areas: Database/ETL design, development and testing.
  • Ability to influence and partner with business counterparts, external vendors both technical and non-technical.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining budgets, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Experience in vendor management (both in-sourcing and out-sourcing engagements) is preferred.
  • Experience working in or with health payer industry and knowledge on health data is preferred.
