IT Disaster Recovery Specialist

Philadelphia, PA 19103 | Contract to Hire

CSS Tec is currently seeking an IT Disaster Recovery Specialist for a contract to hire role with on of our clients in Center City Philadelphia, PA



  • Oversees the design, implementation, and communication of business continuance and disaster recovery plans and processes that ensure the recovery of company data, databases, information systems, and technology.
  • Conducts risk analysis to identify critical operations and systems that are core to continued business operations in the event of a disruption.
  • Monitors and tests the plans and backup systems.
  • Develops and deploys training, documentation, and communication of disaster procedures to the organization.
  • Develops service level recovery standards and agreements with vendors.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree of computer science or equivalent.
  • Typically reports to a head of a unit/department.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Typically requires 5 years’ experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
  • The Business Continuity and Risk Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans by performing assessments, conducting plan maintenance, and overseeing business continuity and disaster recovery testing.
  • The Business Continuity and Risk Specialist is also responsible for developing and maintaining a risk management program to ensure that appropriate controls are in place and operating effectively in support of key business processes and IT functions.
  • 37.5 hours/wk. Some nights/weekend required


Position Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience required
  • Knowledge of SAS 70 and Sarbanes Oxley regulatory requirements
  • Experience evaluating business processes and IT functions to  recommend and implement controls
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and/or business impact analyses
  • Five years healthcare industry experience
  • Internal and/or external auditing experience with a public accounting firm preferred
  • 4 years IT experience a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with both business unit and IT management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work independently, within strict deadlines
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, with the ability to adapt to rapid changes
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Excellent consultative and written and oral communication skills


Technical Accountability:

  • General knowledge of operating system software, hardware, and technical and critical components of data processing, as they relate to business continuity, disaster recovery, risk management, and change management.
  • General knowledge of application process controls, system development controls, and general data processing control methodologies
