An enthusiastic, passionate, and creative tech expert is needed in Berlin, NJ for a contract Senior Full Stack Software Engineer position with full-time hours!

 

Our client company is a notable specialty art/craft retail company with stores across several states. Their goal is to be customers' first choice for arts, crafts, and creative design!

 

The Full-Stack Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering web, mobile, and API capabilities across a suite of newly developed (and yet to be developed) applications for consumers and team members. This includes a mobile app deployed across 5,000 team members, several corporate web/tablet apps, and several other new projects.

 

Responsibilities of the Senior Full Stack Software Engineer include:

  • Developing and maintaining custom web/mobile applications and API’s using Node.js, RESTful APIs, AngularJS, and other programs.
  • Developing custom features based on specifications and technical designs.
  • Creating rich web user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript .
  • Maintaining server-side functionality and contributing to user acceptance by testing procedures and monitoring results.
  • Creating automated unit, functional, and behavioral tests.
  • Contributing to performance and load testing procedures and issue remediation.
  • Performing end-to-end analysis for requested systems changes or issue resolution.
  • Defining a set of architectural principles (technology stacks, upgrade paths, etc.) and clearly communicating this across the team.
  • Suggesting systems changes for projects, application enhancements, or problem resolutions that stick to a well understood set of architectural principles.
  • Communicating with business stakeholders and being able to speak both a business and IT vernacular.
  • Ensuring that individuals know exactly what is expected of them, what tasks are assigned, and how to balance workloads between incidents.
  • Ensuring a positive and professional relationship within the business.
  • Communicating any outstanding and/or critical issues to company management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional experience in a Technology Development/Engineering field.
  • Solid understanding of functional (FP) programming in Java Script using current design patterns/practices, especially for building flexible NodeJS and AngularJS applications.
  • Creating RESTful web services/API’s using Node.js with or without framework assistance (e.g. Express).
  • JavaScript-based unit testing tools.
  • Experience with designing both relational and non-relational databases, optimizing database structure for performance and/or maintainability, and the ability to design and optimize queries.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
  • Understanding of common programing patterns such as MVC, dependency injection, anonymous functions, microservices architecture, and similar aspects.
  • Large scale data processing.
  • Experience with Styling and Responsive Design techniques using technologies such as HTML5, Bootstrap, LESS, and SASS.
  • Infrastructure automation experience using Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with containers and cluster management software.
  • Experience in Agile development programs.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in standard office equipment and computer software including Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Retail experience a plus.
  • Fosters a positive work environment and partnership with team members and vendors.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker, and a team player.
