Technology Architect - Data Center Migration

CSS Tec is currently recruiting Technology Architect - Data Center Migration for a Direct Hire position in West Chester, PA.

Technology Architect responsible for research, design, and development of Data Center Solutions including Systems, Networking, Storage, IA, and EMS for large scale, multi-site solutions. Expert in current industry Data Center capabilities and functionality including; consolidation, virtualization (systems, storage and networking), applications virtualization, and cloud design. Experienced in service automation and provisioning, power consumption and distribution, cooling and floor loading. Understanding of Data Center implementation planning and sequencing, Development, Test and Government Accreditation process, Applications Migration, Data and User transition, Centralized Systems Operations, Backup, COOP, and other ITIL process disciplines that contribute to Total Cost of Ownership.  A strong emphasis on collaboration and coordination is critical for this position and the successful candidate will possess the ability to effectively lead and influence others without direct managerial authority. This role will be a key participant in driving the client’s data center strategy towards next-generation architectures both on premise and in the public/private cloud.

Responsibilities of the Technology Architect - Data Center Migration:

  • Participates in planning for the future technical architecture, providing insight into the future of Data Center technology domain.
  • Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet or exceed management and customer specifications as well as be most cost effective. Evaluating and documenting Data Center design alternatives, and Cloud design alternatives and qualifying efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Conceives, designs, prototypes, and tests new methods, algorithms, and models that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, and development cost projections
  • Participates in or leads the development of roadmaps related to Data Center Consolidation/Migration.
  • Develops disaster recovery and High Availability plans in conjunction with the Data Center strategy.
  • Contributes to the technical elements of RFPs and RFIs and negotiates with vendors on technical issues.
  • Contributes to strategic technology planning, including proposed cost implications.
  • Conducts complete diagnostics for even the most complex technical problems including those involving multiple systems, clients, platforms and technologies.
  • Serves as a leading participant in industry forums, bringing new technical information into the organization and disseminating it to appropriate IT colleagues.  
  • Functions independently with limited work direction.
  • Selects tools and methodologies for projects. Commits to deliverables for scope of work with clients and/or management.
  • Participated in designing and implementing enterprise infrastructure and platforms required for Colocation/Hybrid Cloud computing. Analyzes system requirements and ensures that systems will be securely integrated with current applications.
  • Acts as a technical mentor to team members and promotes knowledge transfer.

Requirements of the Technology Architect - Data Center Migration:

  • Education and Experience: Typical candidates will possess 10+ years of relevant experience and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience.  Current/relevant certifications preferred.
  • Must have knowledge and experience of Data center migration project lifecycle and methodologies
  • Good understanding of data center cabling design and standards.
  • Architecture Design and implementation skills in at least three of the following areas: System Migrations, Data center consolidation and virtualization, VMware, Networks, Storage, Cloud and Business Continuity
  • Lead data center design, including total cost of ownership, capacity and scalability models, Implementation and start up time, upgrades and management
  • High level understanding of LAN/WAN networking, firewalls, load-balancers.
  • Experience migrating applications to Virtualized large scale environments.
  • Good understanding of hybrid, multi-tenant and hosted data center operations, security and certifications
  • Strong understanding of Software Driven Infrastructure including but not limited to software defined networks, operations automation and reconfiguration at hardware levels.
  • Working knowledge of Automation of data center management activities via management API’s
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of Data center efficiency and optimization of data center performance with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system.
  • Working knowledge of High-density data center environment.
  • Lead the development of plans for Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) that include software-defined compute, storage, and networking
  • The ability to Identify and quantifying technical risk and advice on strategies to mitigate them
  • Ability to architect high availability and automatic failover capability
  • Provide alternative design approaches for disaster recovery, backup, and continuity
  • Lead the development of plans for data center optimization on a global basis
  • Plan and design physical architecture that scales efficiently to meet the needs of the business
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the current and future technology architecture, including the inter-operability of technologies, and factors this into decisions and recommendations.
  • Work independently and provides guidance within their domain(s), applying in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure, as appropriate, and acting as a consultant to other IT team members.
  • Build and maintains up-to-date knowledge about business strategies and retail industry trends, including key business process, the role of ecommerce, challenges in distribution, etc.
