Senior Program Manager

Horsham, PA | Contract to Hire

Job Summary:

The Senior Program Manager within the Research & Development Operational Excellence department is responsible for delivering commercial software products to our customers.  The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project/program planning and execution to include working with product management and the engineering teams to create marquee products.  The programs are very large, $8-14M annual spend, and will include delivery teams across the organization.  The Sr. Program Manager will also be responsible for influencing a culture of predictability and delivery and working on a core team with R&D vice presidents.  Additionally, the Senior Program Manager is responsible for overseeing internal and external communications related to the program to ensure alignment across the teams, stakeholders and business groups.

***This position requires PROJECT RECOVERY experience.  My client is looking for someone with extensive experience picking up fallen or failing projects.  This person will need to be prepared with examples of their Project Rescue experience. ***

Job Responsibilities:

Delivery Execution

  • Maintains a highly productive work environment where time zones, locations, language, culture, etc., are leveraged as success accelerators.
  • Has the ability to apply and more importantly evolve and improve departmental practices and principles in ways that expand on the intention and drive greater efficiencies.
  • Leads the project managers in successfully managing assigned projects using prescribed artifacts and templates
  • Oversees the development of comprehensive project/program plans that include timelines, costs, and resources
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for project managers
  • Coordinates and monitors the execution of multiple complex projects
  • Oversees the development, monitoring and evaluation of appropriate project metrics, milestones, and deliverables
  • Directs the project reporting process, including the frequency and content of updates to stakeholders and management
  • Provides project/program progress to stakeholders to include escalating when appropriate/necessary
  • Identifies and presents improvements to delivery processes and templates to the executive team
  • Develops and cultivates strong business relationships with end-users and other project stakeholders
  • Oversees project assignments, scheduling, and task delegation
  • Has the ability to distill complex project conditions into succinct, informative and actionable executive updates.

 

Administration / Support

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process of new hires (project managers)
  • Oversee the training new hires
  • Travel - 25%

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive project management leadership experience within a commercial software development/product environment
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of staff leadership and delivery experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience delivering large $5-10M+ annual spend programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university
  • Thorough knowledge of project/program management and SDLC (structured and Agile) methodologies
  • Experience managing programs within a project portfolio management tool, preferably Clarizen
  • Proven track record of managing programs to successful completion

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP)
  • Delivery “Big 5” Consulting Experience
  • Healthcare Experience
